7 Fascinating Action Figure Finds You (Maybe) Didn’t Know Existed

Like you, I love finding Star Wars stuff, and sometimes just searching for it makes me happy, even if I don’t find what I’m looking for and move along. You could say it’s the thrill of the chase

Oftentimes, as I comb through Amazon and eBay, I’ll find some pretty cool stuff that I’d never seen or heard of before. So, I thought I’d compile a few of the most unique, unusual, and downright cool 3.75s I’ve come upon. And even if you knew about them long before I did, it’s still worth some discussion, don’t you think?

NOTE: Contains spoilers from Episode I, Episode II, Episode III, Episode Iv, and Episode V

EPISODE III SUPER BATTLE DROID

The droid’s on fire. Not your average figure, am I right? I so love that moment when R2-D2 showed those bullying buckets of bolts that size matters not… though I’m sure this guy would have differing opinions on the matter. Battle damage features can make for some really fascinating figures!

SECRET CEREMONY PADME AMIDALA

Yes, they totally made this, despite it looks like she doesn’t have enough articulation to qualify as an action figure. Still, it’s super pretty with the chunk of the balcony and her gorgeous dress! Though I have to wonder why they chose to make her in this dress, but not the purple senate gown that happens to be one of my most favorite outfits of hers. Someday perhaps… but that’s another story.

OTC COLLECTION DAGOBAH R2-D2

Speaking of droids with “battle damage”, have a smol gunky R2! Again, I love the detail, but poor Artooie…

POTJ JEDI TRAINING GEAR OBI-WAN KENOBI

I don’t know if this came out of a deleted scene, comic book, novel, or what, but it’s all kinds of fascinating. Why black? Why leather? Why the blast-shield-down-helmet? OK, I guess that last part makes sense. But otherwise, it looks like Obi-Wan went through an emo phase at some point XD

OK, I did just notice that they made a matching Qui-Gon, so I guess there was some purpose to the dark outfit. Maybe as camo? IDK…

POTJ COLD WEATHER ADVENTURE OBI-WAN KENOBI

Sorry to throw two Obi-Wans in here, but the stuff they made for the Episode I era is super unique! (Also, I do love this Jedi boi.) I suppose this isn’t too far from the recent “mission armor” sets they’ve been doing these days, but instead of just giving a regular Obi-Wan extra gear, they gave him this entire new look for a story I’m not sure has ever been told! Gotta love that they wanted to play around with new ideas and concepts that hadn’t yet been explored. Maybe this eventually inspired TCW down the line? Who knows.

EPISODE IV PONDO BABA WITH REMOVABLE ARM & CANTINA SECTION

Because who doesn’t want to relive knocking Pondo’s arm clean off? Anyway, I love this set comes with scenery, like the Padme one. Sure could make for some fun storytelling with just that chunk of the cantina alone!

EPISODE II GEONOSIAN & MASSIFF

Don’t mind us, just your average joe takin’ his dog for a walk. Though for the record, I kinda really want a massiff. I mean as a figure, not a real one… unless it was properly trained, anyway.

Granted, that lineup might not’ve included the truly most unusual or unique, but I thought they were cool anyway. And there are so many more action figures out there — I expect that I’ll find another bunch to blog about in the future!

10 Of The Coolest Things Released On Force Friday

The big day is here! Or at least one of the big days in a long line of “big days” pertaining to Star Wars! It’s FORCE FRIDAY!! I’ve decided to make a little list chronicling some of my favorite new merch that made its debut today!
NOTE: Contains no real spoilers, but for safety’s sake I hope you’ve watched all the movies at least.

I knew all this new SW stuff was going to be cool, but I had no idea how cool. I am literally DAZZLED by the amazing things they’ve come up with… and the movie hasn’t even come out yet! Not to mention all the cool stuff pertaining to the rest of the films and shows! It reminds me once again just how amazing it is to be part of this… to be here in the midst of it all as a new era of SW films comes into being! And all the fabulous merch that comes with it! Somehow I managed to slim it down to just ten amazing products that I’ve found whilst searching the interwebs (and it was hard trust me). Without further ado, ten reasons to pull out your cash today!

1. The 3.75ers
Force Friday 01
Whether they be Black Series or otherwise, the classic 3 1/4 inch action figures are my bread and butter. They look so stinkin’ amazing I might just have to nab them on the spot! LOOK AT THAT FINN I NEED HIM SO SO BAD.

2. The ‘Sabers
Force Friday 02
Every SW fan should get to experience throwing around a play-value clashable lightsaber, and you can never have too many!

3. The Huggable Vader!

Never have I wanted to hug a Sith so much. GO TO BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP RIGHT NOW.

4. The Giant Pillow
Force Friday 04
When the fan awakens, they ought to wake up to this awesomeness.

5. The Master Of All Animatronics

I generally prefer toys that have minimal or no battery-operated function, but this Yoda is an absolute beaut’! The quality on this guy is incredible and would look great just sitting around your house when he’s not training you in the ways of the Jedi. His movement is scary realistic (in a good way), and dude you can literally Force push him!! I’m sold!! I know what I’ll be doing the next time I have $180 lying around…

6. The Sweet Ride

Kylo Ren most definitely has one. And you can have it in Lego form. So worth all the time it’d take to build it…

7. The Fabric Awakens

There are literally oodles of options for those who want to wear their Episode VII love everywhere they go. It was nearly impossible to pick just a few pics to show here! You can get BB-8 schematics from Hot Topic, a dramatic display of Kylo’s three-blade from DisneyStore, and a wonderfully sparkly Captain Phasma from Her Universe! And this is just the tip of the iceberg of the cool shirts you can get whether you’re a guy or a girl!

8. The Keep Calm And Carry On
Force Friday 08
But there’s no way to keep calm when we’re only a few months away from Episode VII!! All the more reason to buy this amazing tote from DisneyStore! It’s got both our Rebs and our Order!

9. The Jump To Hypersnooze!
Force Friday 09
It’s not easy to love alarm clocks. But it’s easy to love the Millennium Falcon. So thus why it’s not a want, but a need.

10. And this, for so many reasons this

OK so it’s not really Episode VII-related but don’t tell me you don’t want this on your doorstep this Halloween! Is it weird I really want to give him all my candy?

There you go! And who knows what other wonderful things are to come as The Force Awakens gets closer and closer? Until then…

Obi-Wan Wednesday!

You may or may not know it, but on the official Star Wars website, Master Kenobi is the CHARACTER OF THE WEEK!

It’s totally awesome to me, because I love this guy! And I know I’m not the only one out there who’s totally psyched about this. If you asked me who my favorite SW character is, I’d just say “Probably all the good guys”, but sometimes I just say “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, ’cause he’s kinda my go-to favorite; the one that just sums up all the awesomeness of all the SW good guys. I could truly write a long paragraph as to why he’s awesome (and I will… once I get ahold of the rest of the SW movies and TCW season sets to pull screenshots from), but for today, to celebrate what is the Obi-Wan Wednesday of this Obi-Wan Week, I’m just gonna post some seriously cool fun stuff featuring him. The one, the only, the Negotiator, the “wise old hermit”, General/Master Obi-Wan Kenobi! (Some folks call him Ben, and a couple of people call him “Obi” :))

Contains spoilers from TCW Season 5, the Clone Wars Microseries, and The Phantom Clone. The Lego shorts are best watched with some knowledge of the Original and Prequel trilogies in general.

First up, some of the most “Ben-tastic” Lego shorts for your enjoyment!

Obi-Wan’s in a good mood in this one. I bet it’s because it’s Taco Night at the Temple cafeteria 🙂 Go get ’em Obi-Wan!

I love his jabs at Ventress. (“Don’t suppose I can convince you to switch sides, can I?”) Classic Obi-Wan…

The title makes more sense than it sounds.

Some of Master Kenobi’s wisdom is put into practice when a Clone befriends a tauntaun… XD

For someone who doesn’t like flying, he does a pretty good job at it in these two as he helps the Clones take down the droids.

I also have this little gem of Clone Wars Microseries concept art! Featured in an old Star Wars Insider of my brother’s is this Paul Rudish delight

(Image credit: Star Wars Insider #69)

IT. IS. AWESOME. I KNOW I CAN’T STOP GEEKING OUT OVER IT!!

And here’s the epic collectible action figure they made of him in the same cape-and-Clone-armor getup, but live-action-looking!

AWESOMENESS ACHIEVED. I’m perfectly happy with my TCW Season 1 Obi-Wan action figure and don’t plan to get multiple versions of any character (’cause I’m weird like that), but there are more than a few Obi-Wans that tempt me… I mean, he’s just so darn cool!

Plus, you guys do know that the TCW Season 5 cover has him front and center! In his wicked epic cool Mandalorian armor! So, a good reason to celebrate him in general (Hehehe, get it? In… “general“?!” ‘Cause he’s a… um… yeah…)

ObiWanPunsLOL

Sorry, Master… here’s that epic cover art I was talking about.

Also, a little tip for those of you who own or want to own TCW Season 1: Obi-Wan, on this menu, has an Easter Egg when you click the Republic symbol on his jacket. It’s pretty awesome. Unless you own the Blu-Ray… I don’t know if it’s any different or not.

CWS1DVDMenu

So I hope that this was a fun little cornucopia of Kenobi for you out there! Sorry I didn’t have much in terms of the movies themselves, but hey! If he becomes Character of the Week again in a few years, I’ll probably have way more stuff to use then. But as far as I’m concerned, TCW is one of the very best ways to watch Obi-Wan at his best (Which is all the time, of course) 😀

Enjoy your vacation or meditative retreat or whatever, Obi-Wan!

Why My Family… ‘woks

My birthday was a couple of weeks ago (the 11th), and that was followed a week later by my birthday party with my folks. Both days were insanely wonderful! Did Star Wars play a part in it? Why, yes, it did. First off, my cousin, who is an excellent baker, cake decorator, and fellow SW fangirl, made me this glorious birthday cake…

EwokCake01

My cousin has been making me birthday cakes for ten years now, and I’ve loved them all… but this is my first three-dimensional one, and boy does it take the cake! (Sorry sorry there will be no more cake puns…)

Now, between Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, and Planes all being awesome the way they are, you may wonder why it is I chose a SW cake this year over a cake with one of those (which is, btw, the first SW cake I’ve ever had). It basically started with this old Wilton 3-D teddy bear pan… while I had several other ideas, I’d look and see that box in my closet and my mind would wander on ideas of what to do with it. One day, the best idea popped into my mind: make it into an ewok cake! And it’s even cooler since it’s the 30th anniversary of Episode VI! When I sent my cousin my idea, she loved it. And as you can see, she did awesome on this little banana-flavored furball 🙂 (Don’t look at me like that! I happen to like unique flavors for my birthday cakes!)

It was a bit weird, I’ll admit, to have to cut up little Wicket… by the time everyone had had a slice, I joked around that the war with the Empire “took a lot out of him” XD

Now, another cool thing is that since my brother and I are twins, he also had a cake… a simple ice cream cake… with an epic Clone Wars microseries Obi-Wan Kenobi action figure looking epic on top! I can only imagine now what our cakes will look like when Episode VII comes out… 😀

I’ve mentioned my brother in previous posts, and he’s not only an amazing brother, but he’s probably the majority of the reason I’m into SW in the first place. It was his idea to show me Episode IV for the first time so very long ago in ’07. And all the movies that followed. When I saw each movie for the first time, they were his copies of the movies. The action figures I own are pretty much all hand-me-downs from him. He convinced me to check out TCW before I was even hugely into it. He was the one who brought home the CW Microseries DVDs one day in 2010 that a short time later would ignite my interest in SW. Truth, man, I could go on forever about how he’s influenced my fandom. He was my master in the SW fandom, and now it’s one of the things we talk about all the time! And this year, for my birthday, he went out and bought me a blu-ray of the TCW movie! Admittedly, I haven’t seen it yet. Why? Because my brother, who’s already seen it, wants to watch it with me as a special-double feature! And somehow we’ve never gotten around to doing so, but I think it’s pretty cool that, even though I’ve seen almost every episode of TCW, he wants to see the movie with me when I see it for the first time 🙂

Really and truly, my whole family has been a big influence to my SW fandom (I’d say something like “the Force is strong with my family”, but it seems like everyone uses that phrase). I was surrounded by it growing up, even if my brother was the one who got most of the SW merch. But I still had fun playing with his toys, even before I was into SW. Looking back, I’m kinda surprised it took me as long as it did for me to become the SW fan I am today considering how much my aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course, my brother and parents, love the films. But better late than never; even a duck has to be taught to swim… (I just heard about that line in a novelization of Episode IV and I’m determined to use it whenever possible now hehehhehhh)

My birthday was an incredibly special day for many reasons, and one of the biggest reasons is due to my amazing family. For believing in me, understanding me and my crazy fandoms, being there for me, and for all in one way or another shaping me into a SW superfan, I send my thanks to all of them! 🙂

The Fourth Is Forever… Always

What up, Star Wars fans out there?! Can I just say that I’m pretty insanely hyped right now?! Oh, wow, what a weekend! May The Fourth and Revenge Of The Fifth have been fantastic this year! Let me let you in on what I did to celebrate…

Contains spoilers from Episode IV, Episode VI, and Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out.

For Star Wars Day, aka May The Fourth Be With You…

First off, I wanted to look the part, and since I spent my day at home, I wore my sole SW shirt… an oversized, faded Battle of Naboo tee. It also reminded me that I seriously need to get more Star Wars shirts! Oh why did they have to close their Zazzle store?? #NotCoolBro

Then I did a little Olympic-style opening to the Star Wars Holiday Weekend with my lightsaber! Actually, It’s a lightsaber room light I made with a Star Wars Science kit. It’s pretty awesome, and it happens to be Obi-Wan’s blade! *Insert spazzy snicker here* And no, I didn’t actually light a fire with it. I just turned it on and declared the weekend’s beginning.

And then I watched A New Hope again for the first time in a really long while. It’s sad to say that I haven’t watched it nearly as much as I should’ve. It’s been like a year. Ugh. And the last time I watched it was the first time I’d watched it since I first saw it. May I just remind you guys that I didn’t get obsessed over SW until 2011? I saw Episode IV for the first time in 2007 and it didn’t grab me the way it oughta have then. So considering this was probably my third viewing period, my mind got blown all. over. again. I was literally crying at the end. Oh, gosh it’s such a beautiful, fun, exciting, dramatic, heartfelt, amazingly incredible movie! #HoldingBackTears #StarWarsObsessed

But you knew that, didn’t you?

Soooo since I hadn’t seen it in so long, I saw a lot that surprised me. For example, I said things like:
“It’s one of those adorable little binoculars-on-a-stick-on-wheels droids! I didn’t know they hung around the Homestead!” (I admit I’m not even sure what they’re technically called) And, “Whoa, I can hardly believe how much Ewan McGregor really looks and sounds like a younger Obi-Wan! Dang!” (This should’ve been obvious, but give me some cred, I’m a ginormous Obi-Wan fangirl and rewatching this further solidified it for me) As well as, “OHMYGOSH THERE’S A DUROS IN THE CATINA!! JUST LIKE CAD BANE!!!” (Yeah, I kinda really like Cad Bane for some reason…) Not to mention, “Oh so that’s where that line came from. Dang it, Twilight, how could you forget?!” (This happened a lot with a pretty embarrassing number of lines) But all in all, what an experience! I feel a little smarter in the Star Wars fandom now. Made my day about a billion times more awesome.

So I didn’t end up watching all the films, mostly because timing a nearly twelve-hour moviethon is extremely difficult for me. Maybe next year, but Episode IV is the classic that started it all! And now I just want to go and insert “May the Force be with you… always” and “Sometimes I even impress myself” into every conversation XD

After watching that, I thought a perfect capper would be Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out, since it takes place immediately after A New Hope. It’s short, but it’s downright hilarious! And where else can you see Darth Vader being sold as a droid by Jawas to Watto? Talk about an awkward moment… XD

By this time in the day, the suns– er, sun, was setting (I so wish I could’ve started earlier!). So I decided to cap this epic Star Wars Day by reading the next chapter in Paul and Hollace Davids’ Jedi Prince series, the never-before-read Mission From Mount Yoda! That. Was awesome. Rather than reveal spoilers about it now, I think, when I get the chance, I’ll write my little commentary and thoughts on the entire series book by book. And if I didn’t already made it clear, the book is epic! 😀

Now as today, as some may know, is Star Wars Day II, aka Revenge Of The Fifth. I’ve decided to refer to it as “Sith-o de Mayo” 🙂 My original plans were to celebrate SW Day with mostly the Original Trilogy, and to celebrate SW Day II with mostly the Prequels, but today has been busy and difficult to cram it in. In my spare time I’ve been looking at page after page of action figures on Amazon.com. Definitely a nearly infinite list of cool stuff! I think I’ll probably close the day out on some Clone Wars if I can. And I did watch a couple of episodes on SW Day itself; it ended up being Brain Invaders and Grievous Intrigue. Of course that reminds me I seriously need to start writing some posts on the episodes…

But now that the Star Wars Holiday Weekend is coming to a close, I don’t have to have all of my posts filled with SW Day-related ramblings and instead can start trying out some topical blog posts! Sweet, right? Can’t wait to get started!

So yeah, it was an awesome, but all-too-short weekend, filled to the brim with what I consider to be one of the all-time greatest movie series/franchises around. I leave you with a little greeting straight from the SW website.

Awwwwww am I the only person who thinks this is so crazy sweet?! I love this part at the end of Return Of The Jedi when Luke gets a little visit from Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin!! Sorry sorry I’m spazzing again. But you gotta love it!
