Following The Freemakers: The Test

It’s Freemaker time again! And have we got a lot to talk about today! So that’s why I’m cutting short the usual long rambly opener so we can study The Test together 🙂 Hehe yeah if Star Wars were a school subject, I’d be acing it! Well maybe not acing it acing it, considering the times I misunderstand stuff and misspell stuff but hopefully I’d at least be getting a B+…
NOTE: Contains spoilers from Episode II, Episode VII, Rebels episodes Always Two There Are and Brothers Of The Broken Horn, and Freemakers episodes A Hero Discovered, Peril On Kashyyyk, Race On Tatooine, and The Test

I remember writing a while back that, though I was really enjoying the often-humorous daily tension of who Naare really was vs. who the Freemakers thought she was, I was kinda terrified as to what would happen when the other shoe would drop. Because the instant they found out who she really was… ooooh boy… things were gonna get really real. It was a beautiful day on The Wheel and it seemed nothing was out of the ordinary. Until Naare rang the doorbell and the Freemakers wouldn’t open it. Unfortunately when one wields a lightsaber doors don’t typically stay closed for long. I’d stupidly half-expected the Darksider-next-door to walk right into a surprise party… but as she catches the family in the process of packing their bags, it’s evident she no longer has the fan club she had last episode. Because ROWAN KNOWS. And wielding her red-blade, it’s clear his family knows too. “…the Jedi are all gone. Destroyed… by people like me.” I can’t express how much that line terrified me. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHERS SHE HAS DECEIVED. AND KILLED. Naare is basically an unofficial inquisitor. I’d theorized she might’ve been trained by inquisitors but I had no idea she’d done this before. All I can say is she is one very scary lady. *Shudders* But Rowan’s not alone in this fight, because he has Kordi and Zander (and technically R0-GR too but let’s be honest he’s not all that helpful right now). They’re somehow able to board the StarScavenger just in time, but their foe literally Force-grabs the ship. Comparably it took two inquisitors just to grab the considerably-smaller Phantom back on Rebels. Good night she’s powerful. I’m guessing that was a trick the higher-up Darksiders taught her. But Rowan also knows that it’s hard to keep your concentration when someone’s firing at you and mans the guns. Which it then occurred to me “oh right their ship does have a weapons system.” They hadn’t really shot anything I don’t think since the Imperial freighter in the pilot so for some reason I’d forgotten they could at all. I’m thinking just as a whole they don’t shoot at people if they feel they really don’t have to, which says something about this beautiful family’s morals. But yeah I think they have full license to shoot at Naare right now. But if you think for a second that that’s going to stop this Sith-y sort you’re dead wrong. ‘Cause now here comes the Eclipse fighter! And she’s enjoying blasting their ship wayyyy more than she should. After a few perilous turns, Naare sends them a holo, making a deal that I guarantee she’ll alter further. Zander calls no deal and charges the Eclipse dead-on, which masterfully tears her ship apart. Is it wrong I applauded? Naare challenges them, promising she’ll come after them if they don’t just destroy her now. They had the opportunity and all the reason in the galaxy to do so, but Zander simply sends the StarScavenger into hyperspace. Like I was saying, the Freemakers have more morals than most these days. And seeing Zan step up like this is really great. It obviously stung for him to realize his crush is an absolute monster, but when the lives of his brother and sister are in question, he knows where his true loyalties lie. But even then, after all she’s done, he still doesn’t take the shot. Blasting people is just not the way he rolls, even when certain people don’t deserve that kind of mercy. ZANDER FREEMAKER YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON. ‘Course, Roger knew all along she wasn’t trustworthy, just by his past experience with Jedi, “the bad guys of the Clone Wars”. Zander and Kordi set him straight by explaining a) Naare’s not a Jedi and b) technically battle droids were “the bad guys”. Roger is horrified and literally deletes the last few minutes from his memory so he never heard such a thing. OK so that answers a lot of questions about battle droids and free will. I guess it turns out they were just an extremely loyal bunch who never once thought that maybe they were doing the wrong thing, even when their superiors were killing innocents and being all-around jerks. Fascinating. But of all the Freemakers, Rowan’s the one hurting the most right now. Naare had made him feel special, making him believe he would be a great Jedi and hero. Now, he doesn’t believe he’s any of those things. I about started bawling there NUUUU DON’T SAY THAT LET ME HUG YOU CHILDDDD! But before Kordi can say anything their ship’s damage throws them out of hyperspace and they find themselves crash-landing. Zander does bring up a good point do starships actually have brakes? And if they don’t, why don’t they? But I found myself taking note how very green this planet is… and also oh look there’a castle right there. Wait are we on Takodana?? Otherwise known as one of my favorite new SW planets?? Oh right they were crash-landing. Well the good news is they managed to come to a stop without utterly destroying anything! “ZANDER FREEMAKER: SUPERSTAR PILOT GUY!” Pfff the looks Kordi and Rowan shot him I died laughing. “Only in your mind, my very young apprentice.” XD Oh right usually when someone gives you the good news there’s usually some bad news that follows. The bad news is, though they didn’t utterly destroy anything, they did slightly dent a ship and its crew was none too happy. And guess who its owner was? HONDO. OHNAKA. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH #OHNAKAFEVER IS REALLLLLLLL AGAIN. So I’m figuring things’ll go OK at this point, ’cause these days the old pirate’s a decent guy, right? Welp um… you see… back in Rebels, Hondo was on his own and didn’t have a crew or a ship or anything. So being a decent guy was kind of all he could do. Now as you might notice he has a ship and a crew and that crew has I think Grumgar on it so… Captain Ohnaka is back in business. And he’s got a pirate-y reputation to keep. Gotta say it was a really genius move to make Hondo more of the bad guy again after we’ve kinda gotten used to his nice-ish self in Rebels. But either way, I love him and I love seeing him finally make his way to the Lego SW side of things. Besides, we’ve got MAZ KANATA to keep him in check. Oooh my gracious goodness I’m sorry I haven’t really had a chance to talk about Maz much these days but she is so so so so awesome. The Pirate Queen ain’t takin’ any sass from one of her “subjects”! Especially not Captain Ohnaka here. Can I just say seeing Maz and Hondo in the same room is one of the most wonderful things I’ve ever seen in my life? Seriously. Her bossladyness up against his roguish charm is a delight. As long as Hondo’s still making mischief in SWR, I’d sure like to see him run into Maz again while we’re at it. Anyway, so Maz insists Hondo work it out with the kids peacefully, and so he decides to give them a little job. But as he fills the Freemakers in, Rowan finds himself drawn to something in the castle… I admit I kinda forgot about the Kyber Saber crystals for a second and thought “Wow did she have Luke’s old ‘saber already? Wait a darn second only Rey’s allowed to find that!” by the end of the episode everything made sense though. Maz is curious what it is he was seeking. Though I wouldn’t put it past her that she might already know. I mean, she is Maz Kanata after all. She just knows things. Augh I need to watch The Force Awakens again hurry up and release already 3D Deluxe Blu-Ray!! So the job is simple: grab a few golden orbs from Takodana’s third moon and bring ’em back. Simple enough, if they can survive the trip, ’cause all they’ve got to get there is their little scavenger-scooper thing. And with three people and a droid in there, there’s not much elbow room. And for anyone who’s ever traveled in a packed vehicle (including myself), you know that the drive is half the battle.
As for Naare, she had no choice but to land the Eclipse back in the Freemakers’ hangar. And just as soon as she got there, Graballa and his gang show up. She absolutely don’t need their crud right now and sends that message via lightsaber-ing and Force-throwing. The Hutt’s completely fine with calling it quits at this point. But once Naare sees they both want the same thing, she sees a new opportunity. They fix her fighter and she’ll give them half the crystals. And they’ll even work together to find Rowan. Sounds like a plan! Sure it’s not a plan that will likely end well for Graballa, knowing how Naare works, but it’s still one plan more than anyone else has right now. Yeah this will most definitely a problem for our heroes. And whether you’ve seen how the season ends or not, you just know…
Yep that little scooper is not by any means a family vehicle. I’m not sure it should be even allowed for space travel with four individuals in it. Good thing that moon was right nearby ’cause then it probably would’ve gone a lot worse… and that’s saying something. So they find their sinkhole where the orbs were supposed to be, but they also found a large herd of VARACTYLS. Remember a few blogs ago when I briefly fangirled over the presence of a varactyl in the dejarik game but remembered varactyls aren’t a playable creature in any other dejarik game we’ve ever seen so I just assumed my fangirliness was making me see things? Well, first of all, I watched that episode again and found out I was right to begin with. Second of all AHAHAHHAHHAAAA LOOK AT ALL THE PURTY VARACTYLLLLLLS!!! And they’re so detailed! So much more detailed than previous Lego versions! Thank you Lego SW for giving more of these amazing feathery reptiles, thank you! Although I would be quick to run over and hug them all, the Freemakers are a little more concerned because they’d rather not get eaten. Zander decides their best move is to wait until nightfall and grab the orbs while they sleep. The plan from there is for Kordi and Zander to lower Roger into the sinkhole while Rowan keeps an eye out for trouble, a job that both Roger and Ro aren’t thrilled about. Kordi felt it was best Rowan get an easier job after all that’s happened, but I can’t help but think this whole job might’ve gone easier had they had someone other than their three-fingered droid getting the goods. Especially when Kordi decides they should grab a few extra for themselves. It doesn’t take long for him to drop the orbs and awaken the beasts. And them beasts ain’t happy whatsoever. With the scooper falling apart and Roger torn to pieces, it looks like Rowan’s all they’ve got left. With only the red-blade by his side, Rowan takes a spectacular leap of faith and of Force as he rushes in to defend his family. However, not long after he gets down there, he starts to sense what the varactyls are feeling, and it’s a feeling he can relate to. The pain of uncertainty. The fear of loss. But also the fierce love of family. These orbs are eggs, and for all their desperation to survive, and their own fear and pain, the Freemakers aren’t about to let their gain be someone else’s loss. FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS. Also OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH BABY VARACTYLS!!!! THEY’RE SO TINEH AND THEY MEW LIKE KITTENS OHMYGOSH I CAN’T IT’S TOO PRECIOUS. X3 X3 X3 THANK YOU LEGO STAR WARS THANK YOU SO MUCHHHH ❤ ❤ *Falls to knees sobbing with joy* It's like they know what I'd like to see in SW before I even do. Anyway, so as the new varactyl families play together, Kordi makes clear to her little brother that he was wrong about himself — "You are special. You’re the most special kid in the whole galaxy!” and so all of the family feels going on sent me into a coma of warm fuzzies. But I didn’t stay that way for long because I still needed to know what the Freemakers’ next move was. Yeah Hondo knew they were eggs, and he wasn’t terribly thrilled he didn’t get any because they could’ve gotten him some mighty fine creds. Remind me never ever to cross Captain Ohnaka when he’s got a crew because before they knew it, our heroes were surrounded at all ends by blasters O.O That’s about when a flying cup smacked Hondo in the head. Maz has a serious problem with Hondo taking advantage of a bunch of kids and smacks him with glassware and mugs until he and his crew finally vamoose. You go, Pirate Queen! Good seeing ya Hondo. Even if this wasn’t one of your more shining moments 😛 I hope to see you again soon! Just maybe as an ally next time, mkay? Anyhow, Maz does her awesome thing and decides to help out our heroes. She literally pulls the exact part they need out of a set of drawers. She’s amazing, but you knew that. And then… out of a heavily-locked set of drawers, she hands Rowan a Kyber Saber fragment. I think it’s safe to say, yeah, she knew what he was looking for all along. With that, she sends the Freemakers on their way. But not before giving Ro a small piece of advice — to seek out the Maker of Zoh when things get desperate. The youngest Freemaker isn’t sure what that means, but I know from experience… when Maz Kanata tells you something, you better remember it 🙂
Oh yes I just love this one! Another exceptional adventure loaded with excitement and laughs and feels and basically everything! I’d keep going on about how much I love the show and this episode but I figure you’re bored with me by now so I’ll just stop talking.

Following The Freemakers: Race On Tatooine

TWILIGHT545: SUPERSTAR BLOGGER GAL! is here again to deliver another Closer Look on The Freemaker Adventures! And yes, I did have some trouble coming up with an opening on this post. I honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t. But enough blabbing from me, let’s just start talking about the thrilling Race On Tatooine already.
NOTE: Contains spoilers from Episode I, The Yoda Chronicles, and Freemakers episodes The Lost Treasure Of Cloud City, Crossing Paths, and Race On Tatooine

Less than a minute into the episode, we see Dengar blast his way out of the Cloud City prison, gracefully freefall using his headwrap as a parachute, and commandeer a cloud car. Just. like. that. After years of getting little respect in the SW universe (with the exception of his fabulously awesome appearance in TCW), we’re finally really really seeing what Dengar can really do. And he is just amazing. Inventive, cunning, and fierce are words that come to mind. But oh right I forgot… Dengar and his crew getting out of jail is bad news for our heroes. Especially when he shows a certain business card to his slimy boss, Graballa… ohhhh danggg…
This is all particularly bad because Rowan most certainly don’t got time to deal with anyone else with questionable motives. He’s got Naare to worry about. Something about her being a Jedi and killing that Force-flower doesn’t add up… unless she isn’t who she says she is. I imagine the time he spent with Luke also got him thinking. There is an edge to Naare, a forcefulness, one might say a darkness… her methods, her teachings, they are based in Jedi training, but there are whispers of the Dark Side throughout. I doubt Naare ever explained the Dark Side of the Force to Rowan, as he could use that knowledge against her. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up some stuff on that from Luke, too. I’m sorry I’m rambling on this but there’s something fascinating about all this, about the difference between these two masters, between light and dark, between selfless and selfish. He knows what a true Jedi looks like now, and I betcha even if Naare hadn’t killed the Force-flower, he would’ve seen through her disguise soon enough. Either way, Rowan knows there’s something not right about her. Too bad Roger is completely not listening to his ponderings. He’s about to voice his concerns to Kordi, but all she’s concerned about right now is parts and jobs and getting the job done right. And then… “It’s not like I can just clap my hands and a job’ll come up!” *Clap clap* “OMG WE JUST GOT A JOB!!!” “Quick do it again!” *Clap clap* “Blast it was just a coincidence.” XD Ben Quadrinaros needs a pit crew, and he’s gonna pay them major creds to do it. I’d say Kordi and Zander are SOLD. Also seeing Quadrinaros in SW for the first time in 17 years made me positively giddy. Call me weird but I love that adorable bigheaded old racer dude! Looks like heavy discussions will have to wait.
Speaking of the Dark Side, what’s Naare up to? Getting chewed out by her bosses again, that’s what. The Darths want results, not excuses, and make their point using holo glitches as an example. You’d think Sidious would have a little more patience, considering the years he spent slowly taking over the Republic, but nahhh he just wants to win the war already. Not unlike the whole Force-sensitive clone experiment he tried a while back, but you know how that went. Judging by all the stuff she Force-threw in a fit of rage, I’d say she’s a little frustrated. “And I broke my favorite kaffe mug! This day just gets better and better!” And then just when she needed Rowan the most, she found the Freemakers were gone. Mondays, amiright? 😛 Though she may want to work on keeping her angry screams to herself. Actually she’s got a lot of things she needs to work on. Like people skills. Y’know Grey Griffin voiced Ventress back in the days of the Clone Wars Microseries. I can definitely hear a similarity between the two when Naare goes all rage-mode-y. Yay random voice acting tidbits! OK moving on…
When it comes to working on podracers, Zander is now the Freemaker Bossman. These racing machines are his life bro, and when a famous podracer like Quadrinaros is behind the controls, there’s no time to waste! Kordi’s all “Is that what I sound like??” XD So yes I love seeing Ben Quadrinaros again, even if he does turn out to be somewhat of a traitor because he was working for Graballa the whole time. But hey he’s still a good guy, just a good guy who really really didn’t want to be killed by a Hutt and didn’t know what else to do. Hopefully we’ll see him again soon, and in a better light that doesn’t involve him siding with a baddie. But enough of my fangirly nostalgia THE FREEMAKERS ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE! Graballa may deliver some stellar one-liners but he is 100% a genuine threat. And then JABBA THE HUTT showed up. With a mile’s worth of Gamorrean Guards and BOBA FETT. YES. BOBA FETT. Who is apparently BFFs with Dengar. Haha yes I love that these two scheming scummy hunters are buddies. Bros before bounties! Also it brought me great joy hearing Dee Baker’s voice behind that helmet, considering he’s never voiced a clone for Lego SW until this point, and also just because he does an amazing awesome job at it. So while Jabba decides to have a little “conversation” with his cousin and the hunters hang out, the Freemakers see this as an opportunity to podrace their way outta here. Hehe I love Jabba’s smug smile when Graballa realizes they got away XD
So let’s just spend the rest of the blog deciphering the deeper meaning behind Anakin’s claim “I’m the only human who can do it, you know”. That was my first thought when I heard they were gonna be podracing. Obviously, Anakin’s Force abilities gave him great reflexes to handle the speed and unpredictability of a podrace. We know that. And maybe, had Rowan been driving, I would’ve chalked it up to that as well. But Zander‘s the one at the controls. Granted, he’s not doing terribly great at it, but he does have his siblings and droid barely hanging on while they’re being chased by bounty hunters on speederbikes, so that could be part of it. But they literally don’t crash and/or burn (at least up until the very end when Zander takes his hands off the yoke) And I’d always assumed that, short of having a few thousand midichlorians, only other, more dexterous, species could handle such a dangerously fast vehicle. Maybe it’s just that most humans who’d tried to drive a podracer just weren’t good at it? That or Zander is Force-sensitive too, but I highly doubt that, so let’s just leave it at Zander is really really really good. Or at least good enough that no one dies. Or maybe Anakin was just highly misinformed from being on Tatooine his whole young life. *Shrugs* Makes me wish they did something like Rebels Recon for the Freemakers so I could shoot my questions to Pablo Hidalgo. But anyway, the chase takes them on some dangerous turns, including a turn right into an actual podrace. First of all, hearing the actual original voice of Fode playing him was mind-blowing (I have a slight “thing” for Episode I aliens evidently). Second of all, Zander’s overjoyed shout of “PODRACING!!!!!” made me die laughing. And it sounded pretty much exactly like me whenever I see something SW-related. But ohh yesss they’re racing for their very lives in an actual race. I love. So much. Their pursuers don’t make it easy on them, and all the while Rowan and Kordi are doing their best to hang on to the engines, and, in a few instances, fix the engines at the same time. And oh yeah let’s not forget when Dengar and Rowan fought hand-to-hand while STANDING ON THE ENGINE and Rowan defeated him using a spare rod as a lightsaber stand-in. SOOO AWESUMM. Oh but right that wasn’t a spare part that was some kind of stabilizer and the pod was thrown out of control. But ultimately it’s that move that sends them spiraling across the finish line and puts a lovely trophy in their hands. Elsewhere, Darth Vader suddenly sensed a disturbance… a feeling that somewhere, a longstanding record of his had just been broken XP
So the Freemakers won the podrace, but not the race. Graballa’s goons are still out there, and they won’t be able to get back to the StarScavenger (yes I only now realized it’s spelled as one word) anytime soon. They need a hero, they need a Jedi, they need Naare. And Rowan’s all “Whaaaaa… No we don’t…!” but it don’t matter what he thinks, the overall opinion of the room is #TeamNaare. And with a little rewiring of R0-GR they’re able to shoot their “Jedi friend” a comm. Huh she sounded mostly concerned about Rowan atm wonder why…? 😛 But regardless of her intentions, she’s their only hope as Graballa and his men walk over… and with a very large number of blasters. Kordi tries to use her salesperson superpowers and negotiate with the Hutt, but when it comes to making ca$h off those Kyber Saber crystals, he don’t negotiate nothin’. They really could use a miracle right now. Good thing Rowan found a whole crate full of ’em. Sabine would be proud at what happened next. Thermal detonators FTW. “Next time… I offer Boba Fett double.” XD Unfortunately, the crate wasn’t full forever, and the Freemakers were out of tricks. But that’s about when the Eclipse Fighter arrived. I regret I haven’t talked about that pretty ship more but it really is a sight to behold. I am curious though whether Eclipse Fighter is its name or its brand/type. But whatever the case, it’s definitely one of my favorite new SW ships. And if you think the Eclipse is impressive, wait ’til you see what her pilot can do! Again yes I know all this Jedi stuff is just for show but Naare’s fighting skills are truly epic and it’s awesome getting to see her really put them to use as she completely pwns Graballa’s crew. Zander is smitten, Kordi is genuinely impressed, and Rowan questions why he ever doubted her. Naare orders the Freemakers to the fighter, but the hunters quickly get the better of Rowan’s siblings and droid. Nothing the Jedi Master can’t handle tho. Stuck in the Eclipse’s cockpit, Rowan looks for anything that could possibly help and comes upon a lightsaber… with a red blade. And I’m betting Luke told him about the kind of people who use red blades. And as if to confirm all of his concerns and doubts, THE EMPEROR COMES ON THE COMM. And what he says is utterly gut-wrenchingly terrifying. “Slice up his family! That’ll make him talk.” O.O Not gonna lie I gave a squeak-gasp of complete horror at that. And I cannot think of a decent segue now; I’m still recovering from the shock. All I can say is ROWAN KNOWS. HE KNOWS MAN. And just about then along comes the rest of the Freemakers and everyone’s favorite Darksider-next-door. Graballa isn’t gonna get ’em today… but you know what they say about “out of the frying pan and into the fryer”. Wait I don’t think that makes sense in this context. The point is, Naare will guaranteed be a problem. But don’t tell Zander and Kordi, they’re pretty much Naare’s number one fans now. Judging by her face as they grouphugged her, I don’t think the feeling is mutual. She makes very clear to Rowan that he’s not going anywhere without her from now on. “…You never know what dangers may be waiting” (paraphrased because I literally can’t remember the exact line I heard a minute ago). Rowan seems to agree… and that’s why he holds his so-called master’s red blade behind his back. OMINOUS ENDINGGGG.
AHHHHH SO MUCH DRAMA. But also AHHHHHH SO MUCH AWESOME!! Until next post…

Following The Freemakers: Crossing Paths

OK now the Freemakers posts are back in full swing. At least until Rebels gets here anyway. Oh goodness I missed doing these! This post ought to be interesting as it’ll be written from the perspective of when I first saw it, so I’m not going to allude to anything that happens after this episode. So if you’re still behind a few episodes, the Force is with you! But either way, I’m excited to be bringing you a Closer Look commentary on Crossing Paths!
NOTE: Contains spoilers from Episode III, Episode IV, Episode V, Episode VI, Episode VII, and Freemakers episodes Zander’s Joyride and Crossing Paths

We open up on a slightly different side of the galaxy today as we find a team of Rebels pursued by TIEs. And two of those Rebels look awfully familiar… hmm. I was going to lead up to this with some poetic descriptions of the two but I’m so excited I can’t wait any longer IT’S LUKE AND LEIA!!! >W< I had no clue we'd run into such major players this early in, but oh it's so so wonderful seeing them again! And not only is Luke doing his fantastic piloting again, Leia's manning the aft guns! SHE'S BLASTING TIES IN A SPACE BATTLE!! Put that on the list of SW things I never knew I needed to see until I saw them! I mean, Leia is always awesome whatever she’s doing, she don’t got anything to prove. It’s just seeing her copiloting a Y-wing (and blasting TIEs) is so so utterly cool! I think we can all agree on that! Sorry for fangirling all over the place but it’s just one of the awesomest things in the whole episode. Anyway, a combination of clever maneuvers, a shortcut across a rocky asteroid, Leia’s firepower, and some assistance from Ben ultimately win the day for the Skywalker twins. But not without their Y-wing taking some damage… and their best bet is at The Wheel…
The Wheel is home to what some would call the “worst repair station in the galaxy”, but what I would call “the friendliest family-owned repair station in the galaxy”. Granted I’m very biased. Were I a regular citizen of the Galactic Empire, they probably wouldn’t be my first choice for repairs either though, since my knowledge of vehicles is limited and I’d probably be dumb and depend on which place had the best customer reviews as versus the most heart. It’s hard to say really for sure, but I probably should stop talking about me and get back to talking about the Freemakers, who just received a visit from our old friend Wic Cooper. Is it wrong that I was sorta hoping he’d died when he got stuck in space after his Z-wing blew up? Love him as a character, but as a person he’s kinda a jerk. Well I guess every SW baddie (or somewhat baddie-ish sort) deserves a shot at redemption. And then Wic called Zander a womp rat and I lost all respect for him again. Not to mention the fact he came back here just ’cause he likes messing with the starship-obsessed child. (well it also had something to do with a coupon but dang it he’s rich a coupon is just mean at this point!) But Kordi masterfully and professionally takes it all in stride.
Meanwhile, Naare is off on secret “Jedi business” and Rowan is absolutely thrilled at the very prospect of coming along. Rowan’s been doing a lot of growing up lately so it’s nice to see that he’s still got that excitable nature he had at the beginning. In his excitement Rowan shows Naare his Force skills and picks up a couple of bricks… right in front of Mr Cooper. Naare solves the problem with some mindtricking but again reminds her padawan to keep his abilities to himself. And with that she’s off to her “Jedi business”. At least after she barely avoids the Y-wing that crash-lands into the Freemakers’ hangar. Kordi’s cool with that though ’cause crash-landings usually need more… costly repairs. It’s impossible to keep the fangirl button on pause when we see Rowan and Kordi and Zander and Luke and Leia all in the same room. It’s downright amazing. And so begin the repairs as Rowan and Luke hunt down some spare parts in the Star Scavenger. But it seems Ro’s not the only one guarding some pretty big secrets when an Imperial feed goes out warning The Wheel’s residents of the dangerous rebel leaders who just arrived. Anyone else asking how they new? A few surviving TIE pilots? Naare took a glance back? I kinda don’t think it’d be the last one because she probably would’ve mentioned it to Vader and he’dve definitely made a big deal of it. Probably just a tracking device. That or Wic Cooper caught a glimpse of the Rebs and decided to ruin things. Also, “THEY MAY BE WEARING DISGUISES” *holo of Luke and Leia looking fabulous in fake ‘staches appears* XD XD Kordi is no longer interested in the money… at least until Leia adds five times the cost onto their already-high repair bill. Makes you wonder what would happen if an Imperial came by and offered five times that. Eh I betcha she wouldn’t take it. She’s into the money ultimately to protect her brothers and droid, she’s not going to fork over cash to someone who’d really cause them trouble. Oh and then here comes trouble! A graycoat and her posse of ‘troopers! Also yeah it’s very cool seeing a female Imperial out here. Just a nice change of pace. Did I mention though that Roger maaaaaaay have spilled motor oil all over the Star Scavenger‘s control panel? And in the process he inadverdently sent the ship off into hyperspace? Oooh boyyy. OK so now there’s one less Rebel in the hangar, but Zander and Kordi still have another to deal with… and she can’t hide in the trash bin forever. Especially when Imperial Bosslady points out the garbage incinerator. Luckily Leia has experience with avoiding refuse disposal-related injuries… even if an incinerator is totally different ballgame from a compactor. And then unluckily more stormtroopers come along. Aw crud.
With the door locked on them Luke and Rowan have no idea what R0-GR is up to, so Skywalker finally takes it into his own hands — with some assistance from the Force. Rowan is all O.O in a good way. And then Luke does it again to get ’em out of hyperspace, only then for his friend’s wise words about hyperspace travel safety to come back to mind as they pretty much crash head-on into Felucia. But in a magnificent flash of green, Skywalker carves out an escape route and gets him and Rowan to safety before the Star Scavenger hit the ground. Rowan is all-out fanboying at this point, and I do not blame him one bit. If only he wasn’t still sworn to secrecy regarding his own powers. Roger’s OK too, not that anybody cares XP
Elsewhere on The Wheel, Zander took care of their little buckethead problem with help from an old droid. “ZANDER FREEMAKER: SUPERSTAR HERO GUY!” Hehe I feel like I should start using a similar version of that line in everyday life, like “TWILIGHT545: SUPERSTAR HERO LAUNDRY DO-ER GIRL!” XD So while he dealt with them, Leia and Kordi headed for the turbolift to hide where the Imperials would never look — the Upper Ring. Only the richest get in there, and Leia, as the princess of Alderaan, qualifies. Kordi is kinda blown away by the notion this wealthy princess would put everything she has into the scrappy, small, works-hard-but-is-still-pretty-outgunned-in-most-cases Rebel Alliance. It sort of puts it into perspective for her that she’s done very little in the way of generous. I still believe her drive for credits still is rooted in a desire to protect her family, and that she’s still trying to do the right, selfless thing. But it’s also true that there’s still much they could do beyond themselves in a galaxy that’s just about falling apart. Anyone else want to go donate something now? Anyway yeeees that Upper Ring is indeed swanky. I mean, look at how much space there is! The Middle Ring is claustrophobic by comparison. Not to mention the free food. Kordi puts aside her thoughts on generosity for a while to focus on this glorious concept of “complimentary h’ors deurves”. They really do look seriously good. Probably wouldn’t be hard to recreate something similar in real life either. It’d be perfect for a party! And this has officially made me hungry now dangit. But oh look stormtroopers! So much for being safe here. In looking for a hiding place, the girls accidentally walk right on into Wic Cooper’s apartment. Oh joy.
Elsewhere on Coruscant, we finally catch up with Naare. And OMG I just realized this was Coruscant. Everything I just read in Tarkin is here! The fact the Emperor lives in the refurbished Jedi Temple, the way the city looks more industrial than artsy these days, everything! There’s something just fascinating to me about seeing the core’s capital in the OT era. Seeing it go from its bright grandeur in the Prequels to this sort of dark brooding melancholy under the Emperor’s rule is just really really cool. But that’s not the point. The Imperial agent’s here for a meeting with her bosses. Yikes I still can’t imagine working under their command, let alone attending a one-on-one with them. The Royal Guard offering kaffe isn’t so bad tho 🙂 Sidious takes it from a “standard performance review” to something a tad darker very quickly. I have imagined quite a bit of what might’ve been discussed. Probably a few “if you can’t do it, we’ll find someone who can!” sort of comments from the Darths. I believe Naare is driven mainly by a desire for power, and her dependence on Rowan’s crystal-sensing, and her powerlessness to control that or do something similar, is beyond aggravating. So having her bosses bring that up would probably throw her into rage mode. I’d wager some things were probably Force-thrown during that meeting. And probably a few people Force-choked… but I’m gonna stop now before this entire blog turns into a long list of headcanons.
So Rowan was absolutely amazed seeing what Luke could do with the Force as they repair the Scavenger. In the process, Rowan discovers some small flowers that bloom when the Force is used around them. Watching Luke quietly touching the buds with the Force and seeing them slowly bloom into beams of light is absolutely beautiful. Like seriously seriously beautiful. At this point all I could think of was that Luke would be an amazing master for Rowan. I love the almost master-like role Luke takes on with young Ken in the Jedi Prince series, and obviously I’m dying to know more about his relationship with Ben Solo and all the small Jedi kids he attempted to train. Point is, i love seeing Luke in the role of teacher, even in only these small glimpses. And somehow I could see this happening with these two young Jedi-in-training, something akin to Kanan and Ezra that would be absolutely amazing. And then suddenly came an ACKLAYYYYY!!! Which at first glance I find really cool because acklays are amazing but then I’m like “oh yeah it could kill them”. It didn’t seem to care too much about the padawans and the droid (it’s the second time R0-GR’S been spit out by something since they got here… at least, that we know of), but it does seem to like the Scavenger‘s hyperdrive motivator… and that could be a problem.
So under the guise of a cleaning crew, Leia and Kordi sweep away at Wic’s place. Kordi is needless to say pretty done with the jerk. Leia encourages restraint until they can make their escape. At least until Mr. Cooper makes an Alderaan joke. Then all bets are off. Um yeah respect levels for Wic Cooper are going into negative digits now. Bro. is. a. jerk. So I don’t blame Leia for a minute for knocking that guy clean through the wall. Yeah it meant that attracted the attention of stormtroopers again, but it was something well-overdue. Y’all don’t mess with #PrincessBosslady! Another awesome thing among many awesome things we get to see Leia do this lovely episode 🙂
The obvious answer to losing your motivator to a sharp-clawed multi-legged giant lizard is obviously to use the Force to get it out, right? Unfortunately all that resulted in was Rowan falling into the pit with the beast. I was mentally screaming “CONNECT WITH IT! CONNECT WITH IT! PULL AN “EZRA” AND CONNECT WITH ITTTTTTT!!!!” but I think Rowan’s better at connecting with Kyber Saber fragments than with critters. So Luke brilliantly distracts the acklay by throwing a few rocks at it and Force-grabbing Rowan. Unfortunately it was still purty mad and gave chase. Well, it was worth a shot.
In attempt to shake the ‘troopers off their tail, the girls ducked into a Middle Ring diner, but Kordi’s hiding spot wasn’t as good as she might’ve hoped. Lieutenant Estoc clearly looks forward to putting the young Rebel sympathizer beyond bars… but not if the Princess has anything to say about it. Leia turns the eaterie’s specials into lethal weapons and soundly kicks the graysuit into the path of a vacuum droid. “I know. Most people don’t expect this from a princess.” YOU JUST DONE GOT #BURNED! And Zander swoops in on Cooper’s bike like a boss, though he was a tad late to the party. Also… those storms blasting each other by accident? Ohhhh that was genius X3
So the young Jedi were still trying to figure out what to do about their little acklay problem. But ultimately, a comment from Luke inspires Rowan to take a different approach. By planting a long trail of these Force-flowers, they’re able to gently lead the acklay away with its own curiosity, not by fighting. And with every passing minute I more and more love the idea of Luke being Rowan’s master. I JUST STINKIN’ LOVE IT.
Rowan’s not the only one who did some growing up today. Kordi didn’t fully understand why Leia risked everything to save her, but it’s the Princess’s firm belief in self-sacrifice that gives Kordi an idea. It sure looked bad when TIEs brought down the Y-wing, but the Empire didn’t know there wasn’t a Luke or Leia in it! OK so sacrificing the ship isn’t quite quite literally self-sacrifice but it was pretty close. Actually, the real moment of self-sacrifice comes when Kordi sells Luke and Leia a Z-wing… with quite a Rebellion Hero Discount. Everybody, a round of applause for the Freemaker Bosslady. The Freemakers have officially taken their first step into a larger world.
So it looks like Naare had a successful day. Or not. She looks about ready to kill something. And then in walks Rowan, bringing her a Force-flower. Immediately I’m thinking “Oh shoot she could kill that thing just looking at it.” But little did I know how true that would be. They don’t fully explain how the Force-flowers work, but clearly it took one whiff of the hatred running through Naare and died. She rolls if off like nothing’s wrong. But Rowan… for the first time… looks at the woman he called “master” with uncertainty. Dare I say… suspicion. And it was about an hour before my eyes returned to their normal size. Of all the Freemakers, I figured Rowan would be the least likely to figure it out first. I’d had my money on Kordi the whole time, as she was the only one who really didn’t like her. It’s not that I ever thought Rowan was dumb, of course not. I just always loved how much faith he had in people, how he first looked at Naare with all the respect in the universe. He was so innocent, he didn’t deserve that burden. But… oh my… things are getting real up in here man. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Following The Freemakers: Peril On Kashyyyk

Allrighty the Following The Freemakers posts are back in full swing! Hopefully this post will turn out better than some of my more recent ramblings. So! What’re the fab Freemakers up to today…? Pff I’m so weird writing this like I haven’t seen it. But that’s just howz I roll 8)
NOTE: Contains spoilers from Freemakers episodes The Lost Treasure Of Cloud City and Peril On Kashyyyk

So first thing I learned is that “Kashyyyk” has three Ys in it. I’d always thought there were just two, but I doublechecked the databanks and turns out there are three. Now to go and fix all those posts I’d tagged the misspelled planet in. Anyway, so we catch Rowan and Zander locked in a deadly battle amongst legendary monsters in a game of space checkers Dejarik! How is Zan possibly losing though? It looks like’s got a varactyl! Though technically I don’t think there’s a playable varactyl in the game according to starwars.com so maybe I’m just being dumb and instantly fangirling over a creature that’s not actually there. Have I mentioned I love varactyls? ‘Cause I really do. *Is hit by brick* But the deadly battle is interrupted as Kordi noses around for spare change. They’re pretty much out of money… again. What I don’t get is, Lando paid them mucho bucks last episode! How are they already drained?? I’d say Zander and Rowan spent the credits on something stupid (“It’s not stupid! It’s a massage chair! This job can be very stressful, Kordi…” XD ), but I don’t think Kordi would’ve let them live if that had happened. Plus, she probably would’ve never let ’em forget it either. It must’ve all gone to important things like rent, food, and spare parts. Whatever the case, the lack of funds has Kordi down. And then walks in a potential customer! A rich potential customer! All they have to do to get that sweet sweet cash is to fashion a dashboard from a special wood from Kashyyyk. Yeah, Kashyyyk is under a major Imperial blockade atm, and evidently Wookiees tend to be a little hostile to outsiders, but Kordi can’t quite see past the dollar signs in her eyes. But don’t worry, girl’s got a master plan! Unfortunately that “master plan”, a translator droid, is 30,000 credits more than they can afford. So backup plan, they give Roger translation capabilities. This couldn’t possibly go wrong, right? 😛 The fact that both Roger and Zander have a bad feeling about this probably jinxed it.
First thing to go wrong today: the Star Scavenger‘s Imperial Shuttle disguise fell apart coming out of hyperspace, which invited quite a few TIE fighters. That ship could really use some weapons systems. Sometimes I’m amazed they’re able to deal with all the scum and villainy in this galaxy without a good blaster at their sides. But perhaps that just makes them better than most. Kordi takes the steering yoke this time and does some maneuvers that’d make Hera proud, leading the TIEs into some rather explosive situations. Bro I wouldn’t dare get between this bosslady and her creds! It’s important to note that, though her somewhat foolhardy determination to get that money doesn’t put her in the best light upon first glance, she’s doing all this for her family. This job is the only reason these kids have survived alone in the galaxy for so long. Though only the middle child, Kordi definitely takes it on herself to protect her brothers at any cost, even if it means she’s got a fly like a crazy person. But we’ll chat more on her character growth later. Let’s talk about Lieutenant Commander Durpin for a second!
The Commander who’d rather lay low than move up; the character concept is fantastic! The fact he does everything in his power to not get involved, not get his hands dirty, not be noticed, and in turn not be Force-choked by a dark-helmeted higher-up, is pretty hilariously genius. And ahhhh Richard Kind did him so well! It may be just a small sidestory in the episode but every scene Durpin’s in is a gem. Hope we see the guy again one of these days.
Second thing to go wrong today: Roger lost his head to the Wookiee chief. Did it ever occur to you guys that maybe sending a Separatist battle droid out to negotiate with Wookiees was a bad idea? Wookiees live a while. These guys probably remember the Clone Wars. And I’m pretty sure they weren’t battle droid fans. That, my friends, is how you alienate a potential ally! It wasn’t looking good for the Freemakers, but turns out, Rowan is actually pretty fluent in Wookiee-speak. It’s interesting, we see characters all over the SW galaxy conversing with the walking carpets without need for basic-to-Wookiee translation. Ahsoka did it, Yoda did it, Sabine did it, Han did it. So they generally must understand basic. But apparently they consider it quite a compliment when someone learns to speak their language. Seems they have no problem giving the Freemakers the wood they need… but there is still somewhat of a price involved that got lost in translation. Rowan apparently agreed to free the chief’s daughter from an Imperial prison in return for the wood. And did I mention there are no backsies? Also did anyone else die laughing when they saw Roger was put back together with some SW variety of duct tape? XD Oh and is it not cute that Wookiee children are called “pups”? Awwwwz :3 But all laughing and “aww”ing aside, it looks like they’re goin’ on a rescue mission whether they like it or not. But honestly Rowan’s definitely likin’ it. Rescuing a princess! What could be more Jedi-y than that?!
So breaking into the prison was fun. Zander did the Masterbuilder thing and turned one of their speederbikes into a catapult, they missed and hit a wall, Kordi threw sass all over a Trandoshan guard and majorly won… good times. And there in cell 1138 (oh look there it is again!) lies the princess, except that he’s actually a prince. A prince who was very insulted that Zander assumed he was a lady and just about mauled him. In Rowan’s defense, the Wookiee language is tough. Also have we ever even seen a canon female Wookiee? How would we know the difference? Y’know, though he’s made a few mistakes here and there, Ro is absolutely nailing Wookiee-speak. I mean, just in getting the growl right if nothing else! I can hardly even attempt to do it without coughing. So cookies to both Rowan and his amazing voice actor, Nicolas Cantu, for doing what I cannot! 😀 But after a brief explanation, the prince gives Rowan a hug. And we all know Wookiee hugs are pretty much the best hugs so yay 🙂 So they were this close to being home free… and then Ro sensed the presence of a Kyber Saber fragment. And then the Trandoshans arrived, armed to the teeth. And that is the… what? Third, fourth thing to go wrong today? Sounds about right. Did I also mention the Wookiees are destroying the prison all the while? This wouldn’t be a problem if they’d just gotten aboard the Star Scavenger and gone back to the Wheel. But Rowan firmly believes that the fate of the galaxy comes first right now. And he goes right back into the crumbling building. Interesting the crystal was in a Trandoshan statue inside the prison. I’m guessing it was moved at some point and the lizards didn’t notice it. Sorry for stating the obvious, just something I only now figured out. Things get crazy intense as the building collapses around them and they have to fend off the guards and Rowan’s trying to get the crystal and Kordi is protecting that wood with her life and may I mention again none of them are armed?? Huh they had a flare gun earlier why didn’t they keep it? Maybe it was only good for one shot. I’m amazed (and super thankful) our heroes lived. It’s so sweet when the chief and his son are reunited; this time Zander gets a hug too! Chief even stroked his head a little X3 The Freemakers and the Wookiees leave on good terms. But once Rowan and Zander make it back to the ship… it seems Lieutenant Commander Durpin finally decided to get involved. While he debates on how to deal with them, the bros look to Kordi, standing behind the Imps… and holding a large piece of hard wood. She looked conflicted on the matter for about two seconds, but ultimately, she knew what was most important right then. And she smacked the crud out of the Imperial Officers with that fancy Kashyyyk wood like a boss. Even though it meant that the piece was broken and they didn’t get paid a cent and they’re back to square one, I don’t think Kordi has any regrets really. After all, it all comes down to protecting her family 🙂 And the Freemaker kids got their first small taste of Rebel-ing today as they gave the Wookiees hope in their own fight against the Empire. Who knows where these small ripples may ultimately lead? For the first time today… I have a good feeling about this 😀
And guesssssss who got promoted? You can call him General Durpin now! Never has a promotion felt like such a well-deserved punishment! “JUST FORCE-CHOKE ME NOW.” XD
Ahh so that was all kinds of wonderful! A classic for sure! So until next post next week…

Following The Freemakers: The Lost Treasure Of Cloud City

Time for another adventure alongside the Freemaker fam! Excited about doing this one, ’cause if I were the kind of person who could actually pick favorites, this might be my favorite episode so far. Of course you know me they’re all my favorites but regardless, The Lost Treasure Of Cloud City is a real treasure 🙂 So let’s just skip the usual awkward cliche segue into the episode and just start already.
NOTE: Contains spoilers from Episode V, Episode VI, TCW storyarc “The Citadel”, and Freemaker episode The Lost Treasure Of Cloud City

So I love how the episode opens up a little earlier in the timeline, right smack dab near the end of Empire as said Empire starts taking over Bespin. As Lando heads off in the Falcon, he gives Lobot the job of protecting some priceless something hidden away in the Governor’s quarters. BTW his quarters are amazing. So funky freshhh XD And that disco Cantina music tho! Not forgetting his happenin’ roots! Unfortunately, Lobot’s not able to get to the treasure in time before two ‘troopers bust down the door. Oh noes! Now what??
A few weeks later (give or take), we find Rowan hard at work Jedi-ing and his siblings hard at work trying to make a few creds. Nobody’s really getting that far though. Kordi lost a potential sale, and Rowan’s having the hardest time trying to use the Force to put two pieces together. Naare’s all “THIS IS IMPORTANT. YOU MUST FORCE THEM TOGETHER!” Hmm call me crazy but that’s not the most Jedi-y concept. And then suddenly she’s got an incoming message from her superiors. Pff can you imagine if they had ringtones and suddenly the Imperial March started blasting out? XD Yeah Vader and Sidious aren’t really thrilled she’s taking so long with this. Naare insists that training Rowan is an important part of the job. To that, the Emperor suggests that maybe her apprentice is actually scheming against her, instead of the other way around. Hey, when you’re a Sith, someone’s pretty much always after the power you’ve got, so it’s not impossible. Of course, Rowan is the sweetest smol child there is, and the idea of him deceiving someone like that is ridiculous, but they don’t know that. And so the Darths shall keep calling their agent every five seconds until they get results! Just send it all to voicemail, girl.
Anyway Rowan is pretty frustrated right now. There’s so much pressure riding on him to find the Kyber Saber crystals and save the galaxy and junk, and his inability to do something relatively simple with the Force has him down. Zander offers that maybe he needs to relax a little and not force it. And maybe relax a little and enjoy the lower-level podraces! Sure they’re loud and wild and dangerous, but I know that’d bring me out of a funk! Unfortunately Rowan’s a little height-challenged and can’t see much of anything. So he takes a walk around the lower ring, where he happens upon some ol’ smoothie and a walking carpet offering a reward to whoever can recover a certain priceless something from Cloud City. Knowing Kordi was a bit down from their recent lack of profits, he quickly offers to take the job. Lando’s a little hesitant, but since no one else wants to get involved with the Alliance or the Empire, it looks like the Freemakers just got hired. Also isn’t it great seeing Lando and Chewbacca again? Like with Rebels, I love getting to know all these new heroes, but it’s always fun when they run into familiar faces 🙂
Speaking of familiar faces oh look it’s Dengar! Oh, and the headbutter brothers Raam and Baash, too. The three’ve been searching endlessly for the whereabouts of the Freemaker boy and haven’t had any luck. But the bros do know about a certain job that could pay a pretty penny… also second lunch sounds like a wonderful idea! BRB I’m gonna get something to munch.
*Comes back with cookie* OK so where were we? Oh yeah “YOU TOOK HIM TO THE LOWER RING?? WHY NOT GIVE HIM DEATHSTICKS WHILE YOU’RE AT IT!” XD I just love how they find ways to weave every inch of the SW galaxy into this show :3 Though she had some problems with Zander’s idea of brotherly bonding, Kordi is definitely in when there’s a small fortune involved. They leave Roger in charge while they’re gone, making it clear he not tell a soul what they’re doing. Anddd just then Naare walked in. Roger just about sang like a canary. Only thing is, he didn’t tell Naare everything, and what she got out of it was that Rowan was after another Kyber Saber fragment. Suddenly the Emperor’s crazy idea wasn’t so crazy after all. Next stop, Bespin. Y’all don’t doublecross the doublecrosser!! And don’t forget Dengar and his crew, they’re coming too! Oh boy…
On board the Star Scavenger, Rowan wrestles with those bricks again, and fails, again. To help cheer him up, Zander allows his little bro to take them out of hyperspace. Though a small moment, I feel like it’s worth mentioning. Considering it wasn’t long ago he wasn’t allowed to touch anything, it feels a little like Rowan’s grown up some. Plus, it’s just too darn sweet on Zan’s part. I love we really get to see the Freemakers’ tight family bond in this episode. But more on that later. With some fabulous matching jumpsuits, the crew talks their way past the stormtroopers without a problem. And they have no clue that two forms of trouble landed nearby. Oh and this line: “You will take a long march off a short platform…” IT’S PERFECT MAN. SUCH BURN! Honestly it needs to be on a t-shirt. So while Zander and Rowan take a look at that carbon freezing chamber, Kordi sneaks into Calrissian’s place. She be diggin’ that groovy vibe… also probably the fact she’s clearly working for a pretty rich dude 😀
“Ooooh buttons!!” *Runs hand across panel and turns off the repulsorlift briefly* Yeah so maybe Rowan hasn’t grown up that much XP Yeah it’s fun watching Zander and Rowan goofing around and throwing around some puns while “fixing up” the chamber. Though it turns out Ro actually finds the problem. “Somehow that coolant tube was cut in two” Hmm I wonder how that coulda happened… to think, a seriously epic confrontation happened in here a short time ago! So so cool! And I know I keep saying the same thing over and over again but I can’t help it. Rowan decides to try and reattach the hoses with the Force, but once again isn’t successful. Seeing how disappointed in himself Ro is, Zander quietly manually puts the two hoses back together and gives him the credit. Seriously omgosh he’s being such a good brother today… even if it all sorta resulted in Rowan getting frozen in carbonite. The second he fell through I was all “OH DANG”. I think we all were. Zander is horrified. And then Kordi runs in and also is horrified. And then Dengar and his goons run in and grab the million-credit case. And then Naare runs in and Force-grabs the assumptively kyber-crystal-filled case “for safekeeping”. Let’s just say nobody in the room is happy right now. And then Raam and Baash realize that the block of carbonite is the one they were looking for. Dengar and crew make a run for it with their “precious cargo”, Kordi and Zander are after them, and Naare still has no idea what’s actually going on. I was genuinely worried they’d get away and we wouldn’t be seeing Rowan for a few episodes. Determined to keep Dengar from flying off with his brother, Zander grabs Naare’s lightsaber and destroys a main hose… a hose that might keep the city in the clouds afloat. It certainly does provide some benefits, I mean, the lack of gravity does help them get Rowan back. And his carbonite form mixed with the gravity issue makes an excellent magic carpet of sorts for Zander, Kordi, and Naare to chase down Dengar. So ultimately they get their bro to safety and the case, too. Only issue still is that… riiiiight they’re falling to their doom. And if Legends literature is correct, I’m pretty sure there’s a liquid metal planet core awaiting them O.O Also did I mention Naare may’ve been knocked out during the wild ride? So that means the only one who possibly fix the repulsorlift generator right now is Rowan. And though Rowan is thawed out, he can’t see. Interesting thought: in the Citadel arc in TCW, nobody got carbon sickness from the freezing process, assumptively because they weren’t in there that long. Whereas Han was in their for a long while so it made sense why it had an adverse effect. But Rowan wasn’t in there even as long as the Jedi and clones were earlier and he was effected. So… I guess carbon sickness just depends on the individual? Or did the Jedi and Clones do something to prevent it, like some sort of anti-carbon-sickness vaccine? Good question. Either way fact is Rowan really really doesn’t think he can do this now, even more so than before. But with time running short, Zander convinces him to at least try. And oh my land what happens next is so so beautiful. Kordi and Zander stand beside their brother as he gives it all he’s got. I was seriously crying here people. The Freemaker kids may not always get along, but they will always stand by each other whatever comes their way. And that was the worst understatement ever forgive me. But wow it leaves me at a loss for words! And this time, he does it. Rowan fixed the generator and this chunk of the city returns to the clouds where it belongs. Isn’t it funny how ultimately Rowan learned how to better his use of the Force not because of his official Force-wielding Jedi master, but thanks to his average everyday non-Force-wielding family. OMG IT’S STILL SO AMAZING I CAN’T I CAN’T RIGHT NOW. HOLY COW THE FEELS. I’M SORRY I’M BUTCHERING THIS INCREDIBLE EPISODE AND I GUARANTEE YOU I WILL THINK OF A MORE ELOQUENT DESCRIPTION LATER AFTER I WRITE THIS BUT WHO CARES RIGHT NOW AHHHH I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL FAMILY ❤
So Lando was quite happy to be reunited with his lost treasure, which turned out to be his fabulous cape. Hey either way Kordi was happy she got an armload of shiny gold credits XD As for Naare, well, she may actually want to take that vacation now. All this paranoia over nothing done wore her out! Dengar, on the other hand, may be stuck in a Cloud City prison, but he does now have a little business card that will help make that bounty hunting of his easier. And the headbutter boys finally got some good food! Looks like things worked out pretty much for everyone today (except for Naare I guess, but at least it turned out Rowan wasn’t doublecrossing her so that’s kinda good)… which may not work out well for everyone later. But for now, it’s great to see the Freemakers finally win, and whatever happens… this family is a force to be reckoned with.
Aww yay such a wonderful episoooooode :3 I’m so sorry again that I kinda flubbed the post with a sudden inability to put my thoughts into words. But I hope you got something out of it. Perhaps I’ll do a recap post at the end of the season like I do with Rebels to amend for anything I didn’t explain well. But until then…
