Rebel Transmissions: Crawler Commandeers

All right, I’m guessing if you’re here, you’re looking for some interesting Rebels discussion. Hopefully I can deliver! Join me as we crawl through some of the most interesting and fun moments of Crawler Commandeers! (Also known as the hardest episode title to pronounce correctly because my weird brain instinctively wants to say “Commanders” instead of “Commandeers” XP )

Contains spoilers from Rebels episodes Kindred and Crawler Commandeers. Ideally, you should be caught up with every episode prior to these before reading. Events from episodes after these will not be covered.

So how about those ore crawlers? They’re impressive, but mostly they’re pretty terrible. The machine burns up everything in its path to benefit Imperial manufacturing, and if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s run by slaves! Like why even??? The one good thing about it, though, is that today it’s exactly what our Rebs need. OK that’s not the only good thing… we get a lot of memorable Ghost fam misadventures aboard it, like preying on unsuspecting trandoshan captains who’ve got their jam on XD
Yeah Seevor was a lot of fun. By far one of the toughest, stubborn-est, and nastiest scoundrel-sorts SW has introduced us to. I love that he was such a constant pain for the Rebs the whole time… never able to shut up, constantly finding escapes, and unable to knock out for very long. Don’t know if that’s part of the reason the Mining Guild hired him, but all of these nasty strengths of his worked well in their favor. For the most part, anyway. But yeah he certainly spiced things up from the usual often easier-to-K.O.-Imps and storms. Almost miss the guy. Almost.

Now, an ode to Ezra’s voice acting skills. I’ve always thought that talent of Ez’s to be such a charming and clever addition to his skill set, something unique and pretty fun we hadn’t really seen in the films or TCW (unless my memory fails me). Even when it doesn’t convince it’s still impressive how good he is at slipping into another role like that. I could almost feel Ezra’s pain though when he was doing his impression of the Captain. Like OUCH. It wasn’t too bad an imitation though. But yeah I don’t blame him for kind of losing the voice at the end; that really sounded hard. Even though the Guild didn’t find it amusing, applause for the performance all around, for both Ez and Taylor Gray! Bonus nominations go to Vizago and Zeb’s (mostly) convincing roles later on.

Speaking of Vizago, OMG did he make an entrance! Sorry, but first he slammed that one slave over, and then he joyfully tossed his (obviously heavy metal) tool away, where from the sound of things (which sounded a lot like “OW!“), it bonked another slave in the head. I didn’t even notice that the first time I watched it and I’m absolutely dying laughing now XD I totally wasn’t expecting to see Vizago for a while, if we saw him again at all, so his part in the episode was a complete delight. And now he’s become his own kind of Rebel! I just love where this slippery sneaky guy’s story ended up going πŸ™‚

I really did love seeing trandoshans this episode. I’ve been a fan of the knucklebrained lizards (Zeb’s words not mine) for a long time now, and had somehow forgotten how much I enjoyed seeing them around. Zeb’s throwdown showdown with the slavemaster was all kinds of intense; with these two huge, deadly-strong guys duking it out on a precarious platform, either of ’em could’ve won! But unfortunately for the slavemaster, (and fortunately for Zeb) laserwhips aren’t the answer to everything…
Also loved the nostalgia of Ez taking to the vents again, even if he totally didn’t share the same sentiment XP

Yeah this episode just has so many great little moments I could easily go on longer and longer on it, but perhaps the greatest biggest moments are the ones that involve Hera. Watching her so unwilling to turn a blind eye to the danger at hand, so determined to do what needs to be done and to say what needs to be said, regardless of the Alliance’s uncertainties… it’s awesome, in the true, non-overused sense of the word. It’s no wonder she convinced the higher-ups as well as she did. And seeing the excitement and determination on the faces of her crew-fam when they hear the fight’s finally finally on… the energy and hope in the room is electric, that even I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself. Well, not so much by myself, but with these guys? I think anything’s possible πŸ™‚

That is some good stuff right there, guys! I’ll conclude the Transmission posts for the year next week, and then hopefully we’ll have some fun small posts as we anticipate VIII! I’ll see you then!

Keep The Peace,
